Profile

I build systems, lead teams, and ship products. I still write code.

I've spent 25+ years in engineering and technology leadership. I work as a fractional CTO, but I'm also a founder actively building my own product. The advice I give is grounded in what I'm doing right now, not what I did five years ago.

Fractional CTO & Founder

How I operate

Three modes, one person

Hands-on

I build things

Full-stack architecture, system design, API integrations, infrastructure. I work inside the codebase, not from the sideline drawing diagrams. If something needs building, I build it.

Leadership

I lead teams

Mentoring engineers into lead roles, setting up release processes, shaping hiring decisions, and keeping things moving when things go wrong. 25+ years of doing this across startups, scale-ups, and enterprises.

Strategy

I connect tech to business

Roadmapping, vendor evaluation, build vs buy, board-level translation. I make sure engineering work maps to revenue and product goals, not just technical ambition.

Philosophy

Results based fractional leadership

How I work

Short, focused engagements with clear goals. Tight communication loops, crisp documentation, and decision logs that keep everyone aligned.

What to expect

Calm leadership, pragmatic architecture, and a bias for measurable outcomes. All whilst respecting your business goals and team's bandwidth.

Currently building

I don't just advise. I'm building my own startup.

I'm CTO and co-founder of Occlio, a workplace wellbeing SaaS platform. I built the entire product from the ground up. Same hands-on work I do for clients, except I also carry the founder risk.

Experience

Highlights and past roles

Recent

Fractional CTO / Advisor

Recovery from major cyber attack, liaising with key stakeholders, investors and industry regulators to build back business confidence. Continued engagement on re-launch and creating roadmaps to success.

Continuing

CTO / CEO Role

Delicate and diplomatic negotiation to have offshore agency release codebase, hands-on engagement on development of MVP. Advise on pivot to near product, continued engagement on product development, market assessment and growth strategy.

Always

Software Engineer At Heart

A CTO that still loves to write code and build products.

Next step

Let's work together.

Whether you need a fractional CTO, technical advisor, or hands-on engineering leadership, I'd like to hear from you.
